This is a personal site, written by one person and given away. There is no charge, no subscription, no advertising and nothing for sale. By using the site you accept the few plain points below.

What the content is

Everything here is written in good faith and offered for information. It reflects my own experience and my own reading, and I take care to get it right. It is not professional advice, whether on security, mechanical work or anything else.

Old cars in particular reward caution. Where a figure matters, check it against the workshop manual for your own car, or against the owners' club. Work on brakes, fuel and steering deserves proper tools and, if you are unsure, a proper professional.

Liability

I accept no liability for loss, damage or cost arising from the use of this site or of anything written on it. You use the information at your own judgement and at your own risk. Nothing here limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

I try to keep the site available and correct, and I make no promise that it will always be either.

Copyright

The words on this site, and the photographs, are mine unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back. Please do not republish whole articles, and please do not reuse the photographs without asking. Ask through the contact form and the answer is usually yes.

Reporting an error

If something here is wrong, please tell me. A wrong figure or a wrong date is worth more to me than a compliment. Send it through the contact form, with the page and what you believe the right answer is, and I will correct it or explain why I have left it.

Links to other sites

Where I link to another site, that is a pointer, not an endorsement. I have no control over what other people publish or how they handle your data, and their terms and privacy notices are their own.

Privacy and cookies

The privacy notice and the cookies page set out what the site does with personal data, which is very little.
